Tinnitus: Preaching to the Choir in your Ears

Tinnitus: Preaching to the Choir in your Ears

How much screaming would you bear before taking decisive action.

I have learnt to preach to the choir in my ears. I did so because there came a point a when I recognized that no one and nothing was going to rid me of my tinnitus.

To refresh your memory, I have experimented with a variety of therapies in my pursuit of inner calm, including acupuncture, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, infusions, Valium, antidepressants, orthodontic treatment, hearing aids, masking aids, a "Tinnitus Re-Training" program, and more. I was urged to wear a specifically constructed corset to strengthen my back. I was asked to wear a brace by an orthodontic professional. I have been told to take Botox® and now I am being encouraged to try a new “Herbal Tinnitus Formula” which may or may not help relieve Tinnitus. To add to all this, I spent at least 6 weeks at a Tinnitus clinic for rehabilitation procedures. I had been off work for about 1 year and ultimately lost my job due to my absence.

Written down it all appears quite dramatic and all in all, a very long story to tell.

These are the terrible qualities I had to learn to accept and forget. These elements are history and must stay that way.

The most common characteristic that most Tinnitus victims have is the fact we will do virtually everything to get rid of the screaming in our ears. We will believe anything we are told and follow all orders. Because we have faith in the message and eagerly anticipate a day without tinnitus, we have faith.

When we learn that none of the aforementioned treatments have helped, and when we learn that our tinnitus will be with us every day (as it is in 90% of instances), we can't help but feel hopeless and frustrated. No one can easily accept this.

If you can come to terms with this reality, you'll realize that your own determination is the key to overcoming tinnitus. Within you is the remedy.

I hate to tread on anyone's toes, but the medical community did little to alleviate my tinnitus. While there are numerous hypotheses on the causes and treatments for tinnitus, conventional medicine ultimately offers little relief.

You are the only one who can find a path out of this pit of misery. Consider your own tinnitus and the steps you would take to alleviate it. We have previously proven that we are willing to do whatever it takes to end this pain.

Do not worry about tinnitus. It is an easy trick. You need learn it and practice it like any other technique.

Mastering the didgeridoo was a lifelong goal of mine. I went ahead and got one, thinking I could teach myself how to play it. Finally, after many days of futilely attempting to extract a sound from it, I succeeded. I derived an exceptionally pleasant tone from it. The description was spot on. The only catch is that after about ten seconds of playing, the didgeridoo stopped making much of a sound because I had to breathe in to make it work. A technique called "circular breathing" is the key. Simply said, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously. If you can hold your breath for two seconds and then let it out again, you will survive. But I mastered "circular breathing" after several practice sessions.

The idea I'm attempting to convey, I think, is clear to you. Ignoring tinnitus is like picking up the didgeridoo for the first time. You need to put in the time and effort to succeed at it.

It is critical that you grasp this, so please allow me to say this phrase again.

Tinnitus is manageable if you know what to do. Ignoring tinnitus is a skill everybody can master.

The ability of your mind to disregard information it finds objectionable has been fine-tuned over time. Every living thing possesses this capacity. Take a moment to reflect on how often you disregard or disregard things simply because you dislike them.

Things we'd like not remember pop up in our lives on a daily basis.

One more of them is tinnitus. Find ways to de-emphasize its significance and prioritize savoring precious moments.

It is critical that you understand that tinnitus is not a medical condition. You have no physical illness and no mental illness either! Get your life in order and start living it to the fullest again.

Manipulating tinnitus is possible. Aren't you sick of being manipulated? Think about how long it has been since you last took charge and sat back in the driver's seat.

Tinnitus isn't essential enough to dictate how you live your life. This is very illogical!

It worked for me, too, and I was able to drastically alter my way of life. After I broke the habit, I dropped fifty pounds. I started exercising and running regularly, which helped me to stop worrying about tinnitus and other things over which I had no control. I even went so far as to write an ebook and launch a website specifically for those dealing with tinnitus.

I was the one who did all of this. With no one to turn to for assistance, I channeled my energy toward satisfying my own desires through tinnitus.

How about this? Sometimes it's still loud, and I still hear the chorus, but then again, so is life. Now that I am the preacher and in charge, that's the only change.

Enjoy your sermon!
